Originally established in 1971 (2028 BS) as Shri Bagishwori Sample Lower Secondary School in what is now Punarwas Municipality-7, Buddhabasti (formerly Parasan VDC-2), the school had to be relocated due to a devastating flood in 2040 BS that made the original site unsafe. With the permission of the District Education Office and the school's catchment area guardians, the administrative and physical structures were divided between primary and lower secondary levels. The primary section was merged into Shri Bal Jyoti Primary School (originally established in 2032 BS at Parasan-1, Buddhabasti). Shortly after, all teaching positions from Bal Jyoti Primary School were transferred to Shri Punarwas Secondary School in Tribhuvanbasti (now Punarwas-6). Consequently, this school has been continuously operating since 2040 BS using the primary-level quota originally allocated from Bagishwori Lower Secondary School.
वि.सं. २०२८ सालमा हालको पुनर्वास नगरपालिका–७, बुद्धबस्ती (साविक परासन गा.वि.स.–२) मा "श्री वागिश्वरी नमूना नि.मा.वि." को रूपमा यो विद्यालय स्थापित भएको थियो। तत्पश्चात् विक्रम संवत् २०४० सालमा आएको विनाशकारी बाढीको प्रकोपका कारण पुरानो स्थान विद्यालय सञ्चालनका लागि पूर्ण रूपमा अनुपयुक्त भएपछि, विद्यालय सेवा क्षेत्रका सम्पूर्ण अभिभावक र जिल्ला शिक्षा कार्यालयको अनुमतिमा प्रशासनिक तथा भौतिक संरचनाहरूलाई प्रा.वि. र नि.मा.वि. तहमा विभाजन गरी व्यवस्थापन गरियो। सोही क्रममा प्रावि तहलाई साविक परासन–१ (बुद्धबस्ती) मा २०३२ सालदेखि सञ्चालित "श्री बाल ज्योति प्रा.वि." मा गाभियो र त्यसलगत्तै बाल ज्योति प्रा.वि. का सम्पूर्ण दरबन्दीहरूलाई त्रिभुवनबस्तीस्थित "श्री पुनरवास मा.वि." (हाल पुनर्वास–६) मा हस्तान्तरण गरियो। यसरी बागेश्वरी नि.मा.वि. को प्रावि तहको दरबन्दीबाटै यो विद्यालय २०४० सालदेखि हालसम्म निरन्तर रूपमा सञ्चालन हुँदै आएको छ।
स्थापनाकालमा विद्यालयको भौतिक पूर्वाधारका नाममा जम्मा एउटा तीनकोठे छाप्रो मात्र, तर तत्कालीन नेपाल पुनर्वास कम्पनी (हाल राष्ट्रिय आवास कम्पनी) योजना कार्यालयका योजना प्रमुख श्री बुद्धिबहादुर बुढाथोकीज्यूको अध्यक्षता तथा जिविसको सहयोगमा ६ कोठे पक्की भवन निर्माण गरी विद्यालयको नाम "श्री बाल वागिश्वरी प्रा.वि." राखियो (जुन पछि २०७१।०९।०४ को जिल्ला शिक्षा समितिको बैठकबाट माध्यमिक विद्यालयका लागि सिफारिस भएको हो)। कालान्तरमा विद्यार्थीको चाप र कक्षाकोठाको अभावलाई मध्यनजर गर्दै विद्यालयले थप ५ वटा पक्की भवन र २ कोठे शौचालय निर्माण गरी कक्षाकोठाको अभावलाई सफलतापूर्वक समाधान गरेको छ।
शैक्षिक सत्र २०५७ देखि यस विद्यालयमा निम्न माध्यमिक तह सञ्चालनका लागि अनुमति माग गरिएकोमा, वि.सं. २०५७।०७।२८ मा कक्षा ६, शैक्षिक सत्र २०५८।०५९ मा कक्षा ७, र शैक्षिक सत्र २०५९।०६० मा कक्षा ८ को अनुमति प्राप्त भएको थियो। यसप्रകാരം निरन्तरको प्रगति र विकासको फलस्वरूप हाल यो विद्यालय माध्यमिक तह (कक्षा १–१०) को संरचनामा सञ्चालित छ।
During its inception, the school's only physical infrastructure was a three-room thatched hut. Under the leadership of Mr. Buddhi Bahadur Budhathoki, the then Planning Chief of the Nepal Rehabilitation Company (now National Housing Company) Planning Office, and with the support of the District Development Committee, a six-room concrete building was constructed. The school was officially renamed Shri Bal Bagishwori Primary School (which has since been upgraded, receiving a recommendation for secondary level status from the District Education Committee meeting on 2071-09-04 BS).
Over time, to accommodate a growing number of students and overcome classroom shortages, the school added five more concrete buildings and a two-room restroom facility, fully resolving the space deficit. The institution gradually expanded its academic levels, receiving permission to operate grade 6 on November 14, 2000 (2057-07-28 BS), grade 7 in the 2058/059 academic session, and grade 8 in the 2059/060 academic session. Today, the school functions as a full secondary institution spanning grades 1 through 10.
